What’s the difference between the Mobile App SDK and Web SDK? The Mobile App SDK allows you to add augmented reality product visualization within your existing Android or iOS app. Your customers will not need to leave your app to view your products in AR. The Web SDK allows you to add a link from your mobile/desktop website to the Augment app, so your customers can view their products in augmented reality. Both the Mobile App SDK and Web SDK use the same Augment product database to source 3D models.
How do I find out if the products my company sells are available in the SDK product database? Get in touch with an Augment account executive, and we’ll let you know! All we need is a .csv file including the name, EAN, brand, and SKU for each product.
How do I get 3D models of the products my company sells if they’re not already in the database? Augment is adding 3D models to the database daily. If your products are not currently in the database, Augment will coordinate with the applicable brands to create the realistic 3D models of your products.
Do I need an app to use the Augment SDK? The Augment SDK helps you add augmented reality to your existing platform. This can be an Android/iOS mobile application or a mobile/desktop website.
Can I customize the augmented reality button? Yes. You have control over what the button says and how it will look in your app or on your website. Here are recommendations for UX best practices.
Do my customers need to use a tracker? Your customers can view products simply by tapping the visualization button, and the 3D model will appear in the user’s environment. Without a tracker, the AR algorithm assumes that the user is standing and approximately five feet tall. The 3D model will be placed in front of the person at scale to those approximations. If the user moves forward, the model will move back and remain at the same distance relative to the person. This works best for large models, which should be viewed on the ground.
Your customers will need to use a universal tracker to view smaller objects that are not meant to sit on the floor and/or that they want to be able to move around. Print the tracker here.
Will the Augment SDK be compatible with Tango devices? Yes!
How much does the Augment SDK cost? Pricing is dependent upon the number of monthly model views and the number of 3D models available. Augment is currently offering early bird pricing. Contact us to learn more!
